www.bleedingcool.com/2014/06/09/rumour-fox-dont-want-bryan-singer-to-direct-x-men-apocalypse/One of the most-repeated aphorisms in writing about Hollywood is that a director – or actor, or whatever – is only as good as their last movie. Typically, this is really means ‘as good as their last movies box office.’ In either case, Bryan Singer is pretty darn good. But according to Radar Online, Fox may still want to remove him from X-Men: Apocalypse. They say that his deal was made a long time ago, and claim that the studio’s specific concern is that production might be disrupted if Singer is called into a court case. Well, that makes a certain amount of logistical sense. You can’t have a director leave a production half way through and see everything carry on without them. The possibility does highlight a quandary that the studio must have considered even if this rumour is bunkum. They’ve got a release date for Apocalypse, and they’re not going to want to miss it. Even less than that are they going to want costly delays in the middle of production. Radar say that: There have been talks about who else he’d let direct it, with him producing, but those led to heated arguments and walk outs. Because he’s got a narrow wish list and Fox are, after all, the studio that stuck Brett Ratner on one of the X-Men films before now? Not an impossible scene to imagine by any stretch.
