PARIS– Months after announcing the launch of U.S.-based Relativity EuropaCorp Distribution, EuropaCorp is unveiling a large slate of English-language projects, including “Warrior’s Gate” and “The Lake.”
“The Lake” is written by Richard Wenk, whose credits include “The Expendables 2″ and “The Mecanic,” and Luc Besson. The epic thriller will follow a group of Navy Seals who embark on a journey to solve a long forgotten mystery while uncovering a hidden treasure in a lake in war-torn Serbia.
Genre film director Matthias Hoene has come on board to direct “Warrior’s Gate,” an S3D fantasy thriller penned by Besson and Robert Mark Karmen (“The Karate Kid”). Co-developped and co-produced by EuropaCorp’s Chinese partner Fundamental, “Warrior’s Gate” centers around a teenager who is magically transported to China where he trains to become a kung fu warrior in order to save a princess from danger. Pic will be delivered in 2015.
EuropaCorp will also continue pre-sales on “Now You See Me” helmer Louis Leterrier’s “Sea At War.” Co-written by Besson, Robert Mark Kamen, Josh Oppenheimer and Tom Donnelly, “Sea at War” turns on young girl who transforms into a mermaid after being involved in an accident at sea. After she goes missing, her boyfriend launches an epic battle against sea creatures to find her.
Other titles of EuropaCorp’s Cannes slate include Camille Delamare’s “The New Transporter,” and Simon West’s “DNA,” which were first reported in Variety in Cannes and in Berlin, respectively.
