David Benoit – son of former WWE Superstar Chris Benoit – was booked and announced to make his pro wrestling debut for Hart Legacy Wrestling in Calgary, Canada this July. However, after a series of unexpected revelations, the match has been called off and a date for David's in-ring debut has not been announced, if it ever happens at all.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, David's tag team partner for the event, former WWE and TNA star Chavo Guerrero, pulled out of the event after he found out that Smith Hart had lied about Benoit's professional training, of which he apparently has none. Meltzer reports that David has enrolled for a few different wrestling camps, but never showed up to learn the craft.
Wrestling legend and Fozzy front man Chris Jericho, who has kept in close contact with David since the death of his family, reportedly "was furious" that Hart would book him without experience, and contacted the promotion. Both Guerrero and Benoit's bookings for the event have since been called off.

We noted earlier this week that David Benoit's in-ring debut for a July Hart Legacy Wrestling event in Canada had been nixed after Chris Jericho got involved and was upset at Smith Hart for booking Benoit without Benoit receiving proper training. Chavo Guerrero, who was to team with Benoit, also backed out when he learned that Benoit wasn't properly trained.
Smith issued his first public comments since news came out that Jericho became involved and the match is off. He wrote:
"Here's hoping dissuasion of David Benoit's debut works out best for everyone including every single loyal fan."
