variety.com/2014/film/news/disney-animator-sells-three-shadows-to-filmnation-exclusive-2-1201154225/Cyril Pedrosa, who launched his career in Disney animation, has sold movie rights to his French graphic novel “Three Shadows” to FilmNation Entertainment. “Three Shadows,” published in 2008, centers on a father who takes his son on an epic journey in order to cheat death. Based in France, Pedrosa began his career in animation by working on “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “Hercules.” It’s the latest high-profile book adaptation set up at FilmNation — a key player in the independent sales-financing-producing world. The banner’s developing Ann Leary’s “The Good House” with Michael Cunningham adapting for Meryl Streep and Robert DeNiro; Claire Bidwell Smith’s “The Rules of Inheritance” with Abi Morgan adapting for Jennifer Lawrence to star and Susanne Bier to direct; and Adam Gidwitz’ “A Tale Dark and Grimm” with Henry Selick directing. FilmNation’s Aaron Ryder and Karen Lunder will shepherd the project. FilmNation will handle worldwide sales. The deal was brokered on behalf of FilmNation by Alison Cohen and on behalf of Editions Delcourt in France by Juliette Mathieu.
