In New York, NY Thursday evening, Disney, Marvel Studios, and the New York Daily News co-sponsored a special screening of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, officially launching in the U.S. on Friday, April 4, 2014. After the screening, stars Anthony Mackie, The Falcon, and Sebastian Stan, the titular Winter Soldier, stopped in to say hello to the kids of "Our Military Kids," a charity organization that supports the families of U.S. military servicemembers.
The pair answered a few questions for the kids, as well, and we'll have more on that later. The biggest question and answer came from a 12 year-old fan who said he loved the movie and asked, "When does Captain America 3 come out?"
The actors laughed, and Mackie first joked "Well, this one comes out tomorrow, first of all!" When it seemed he might not continue, he asked the fan how old he was, and the kid responded with 12. "Well, if you're 12 now," Mackie said, "You'll be 14 when Captain America 3 comes out. So you've got a bit of time to wait, but yeah, you'll be 14."
Previously, it was reported without any confirmation from Marvel Studios or any named sources that the next movie in the franchise, also being directed by the Russo Brothers who helmed this picture, would be facing down the untitled Superman/Batman movie from Warner Bros. on May 6, 2016. This is the first time a 2016 date has been publicly acknowledged by anyone involved directly with the film, however. It also would seem to imply that Mackie and Stan are involved in the next film. Mackie did not give any exact date, or mention the possible head-to-head showdown in any way.
