Watch: First Teaser For ‘Beyond Bitcoin’, Blockchain Doc Bought In Seven-Figure Deal For ‘BVOD’ Platform Binge – Cannes
EXCLUSIVE: Here’s the first teaser trailer for the documentary Beyond Bitcoin, which was acquired this week by new streaming platform Binge, owned by blockchain firm Slate Entertainment Group.
The feature, produced by James Corden’s Fulwell 73 and directed by Jake Witzenfeld, tells the story of crypto financier Ryan Radloff, blockchain diplomat Perianne Boring, and controversial anarcho-capitalist Roger Ver over the course of one year on their separate journeys to decentralize and redefine money and power. It covers the rise of altcoins, the civil war within the crypto community, the proliferation of ICOs, the evolving conversation with governments and regulators, and the potential of blockchain technology beyond its application to currency. The film is set to be released on the Binge platform in March 2019.
SEG is in Cannes looking to beef up its “B-VOD” roster and during the festival the firm announced a tie-up with the Sitges International Film Festival for the latter to become the first movie fest to accept cryptocurrency. The company has just released a promotional video fronted by The 100 and Okja actor Dylan Bostick about the firm, which looks like it wants to be the Netflix of cryptocurrency.
Blockchain has been one of the watchwords of this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Entertainment companies looking to use virtual currency are springing up left right and center.
