Michael Sugar’s label Sugar23 brought in the project and will produce the adaptation with Anonymous Content and Aevitas Creative Management. Brockman’s debut novel, which Ballantine recently acquired at auction for a June 2019 street date, is set at an elite college in small-town New England and follows the shifting alliances and romantic entanglements of six tight-knit students — until one of them is murdered. Aevitas’ Lori Galvin and Lane Zachary sold the book rights. Sugar23’s head of production Ashley Zalta ID’d the project and will produce alongside Sugar and Aevitas’ Todd Shuster. Anonymous Content’s Nicole Clemens and Aevitas’ Galvin will executive produce. Sugar, the longtime manager-producer at Anonymous Content whose producing credits include Oscar Best Picture winner Spotlight, launched Sugar23 last fall and has a multi-year first-look deal with AC where he remains in the fold.
