Fox’s reboot of the Fantastic Four, which Josh Trank is directing for a June 19th, 2015 debut, will evidently be an origin saga that takes at least some of its backstory from the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic book series. Trank will direct from a screenplay written by Jeremy Slater and polished by Simon Kinberg . Fox’s posting on the Acting Auditions.org site provides a plot synopsis that is bound to raise a few eyebrows in certain quarters of fandom. The synopsis printed on Acting Auditions reads as follows: “The Fantastic Four will tell the tale of two very young friends, Reed Richards and Ben Grimm. After an event transforms the boys, they find themselves empowered with bizarre new abilities. Reed becomes a scientific genius who can stretch, twist and re-shape his body to inhuman proportions. Ben becomes a monstrous, craggy humanoid with orange, rock-like skin and super-strength. However, the two end up being owned by the government and used as weapons. But after they mature, two others with powers come into the picture – Sue Storm “The Invisible Girl” and Johnny Storm “The Human Torch.” According to Acting Auditions the only role cast so far is that of Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, who will be played by Michael B. Jordan, who played the teenage drug dealer Wallace on The Wire, Vince Howard on Friday Night Lights, and shooting victim Oscar Grant in the critically-acclaimed Fruitvale Station. Attachments:
