Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment has acquired international rights to John Slattery’s feature directorial debut “God’s Pocket” following its world debut at Sundance.
It’s the first festival acquisition for Devlin’s fledgling banner, which plans to begin selling international markets at Berlin.
Devlin, the “Independence Day” producer who helped start Voltage Entertainment in 2005, announced during the American Film Market that he had returned to the foreign sales/financing business through his 12-year-old banner Electric Entertainment.
Electric is also selling its fully financed mob drama “The Wannabe,” starring Patricia Arquette, Vincent Piazza and Michael Imperioli. Martin Scorsese is executive producing “The Wannabe,” which was shot in November on a 20-day shoot with Nick Sandow directing from his own script.
Electric also will be selling international rights to Hannah Espia’s “Transit” and “The Boys of Abu Ghraib,” directed by Luke Moran and executive produced by Edward Zwick, Marshall Herskovitz and Rogan Donelly.
IFC Films acquired the U.S. rights to “God’s Pocket” on Wednesday. The drama stars Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
