Junji Shimizu’s Mazinger Z Infinity will have its world premiere at the Rome Film Fest on Oct. 28 in collaboration with the independent sidebar Alice Nella Citta. As an enormous super robot whose mission is to fight for peace and justice, Mazinger Z became a global phenomenon spawning numerous TV shows. In Mazinger Z Infinity, the mighty robot battles his arch-enemy Dr. Hell in an all-new adventure to save the planet. Animation studio Toei Animation produced the film, which is set to release next year in Japan. Rome Film Fest will also pay tribute to Funny Face, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. Audrey Hepburn will grace the official festival poster this year with an iconic still from the film. As previously announced, Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit will have its Italian premiere at the festival. David Lynch will receive the festival’s lifetime achievement award, with a retrospective of his work. And other guests invited include Ian McKellen, Vanessa Redgrave, Xavier Dolan and Chuck Palahniuk. The 12th Rome Film Fest takes place Oct. 26-Nov. 5.
