variety.com/2016/film/news/national-lampoon-movie-netflix-emmy-rossum-1201752618/ Emmy Rossum Joins Netflix’s National Lampoon Movie (EXCLUSIVE) Emmy Rossum is joining the ensemble of “A Futile and Stupid Gesture,” Netflix’s biopic on National Lampoon co-founder Douglas Kenney. Will Forte will play Kenney and Domhnall Gleeson will portray the humor magazine’s other founder, Henry Beard, in the film being directed by David Wain. Joel McHale will play Chevy Chase. Kenney was the editor of the Harvard Lampoon when he met Beard and Robert Hoffman. They launched National Lampoon, which became a major force in 1970s comedy, soon after graduation. Kenney suffered from drug and alcohol abuse, and fell off a cliff in Hawaii in 1980 under mysterious circumstances. Rossum will play Kathryn Walker, Kenney’s close friend, who couldn’t stop his destructive slide. Peter Principato and Jonathan Stern are producing. Ed Helms is exec producing along with Michael Colton and John Aboud. Ben Ormand, Ted Hamm and Sean McKittrick are also exec producing. Rossum’s Showtime series “Shameless” just wrapped its sixth season and has been renewed for season seven by the network. She is repped by at CAA, MGMT Entertainment and Felker Toczek Suddleson Abramson.
