Alterna stated in the announcement that comic issue release to newsstands will be delayed 2 – 3 months after direct market (comic store) release, and individual newsstands will only receive 2 – 5 copies of any issue. The publisher feels that comics need wider distribution in order to reach new audiences, provide a living for comic creators, and also reach a new generation of creators who do not have comic shops in their area. Alterna cited test market data that showed a 20% - 25% increase in orders on issue #2 of series over issue #1, in contrast to the typical decline in orders between issue #1 and issue #2 in the direct market. Lilith Dark #1, Amazing Age #1, Croak #1, and Adam Wreck #1 all debuted in comic stores on May 3.
