Well, that return isn’t the last time audiences will see the Oscar-winner at the helm — the writer/director, reportedly, already has a script for a follow-up film. While working on “Alien: Covenant,” Scott says (via Sydney Morning Herald) he wrote up a sequel so he could be ready to keep advancing the saga. “You’ve got to assume to a certain extent success and from that you’d better be ready,” he said. “You don’t want a two-year gap. So I’ll be ready to go again next year.” Scott has planned three sequels to “Prometheus,” which will serve as “the back entrance” to the first “Alien” film. Scott also noted that there are still plenty of questions from the 1979 original that have yet to be answered, and says “Covenant” will deliver on some of those answers: “‘Prometheus’ was about who and why? [‘Covenant’] is getting closer to who designed it and for what reason.” Opening May 19, “Alien: Covenant” is directed by Ridley Scott and stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England and Benjamin Rigby.
