The first issue will feature a cover by Kuder and Ive Svorcina. It’s a brand-new start for Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot. After an extended stay on Earth, the Guardians return to the stars. But there have been some changes since the team hit atmo: Drax has sworn off violence, and Groot can’t regenerate. Plus they’ve stumbled right into a war between the Elders of the Universe.

www.bleedingcool.com/2017/12/29/guardians-of-the-galaxy-low-sales/Guardians of the Galaxy was Cancelled and Remade Due to Low Sales Posted by Rich Johnston December 29, 2017 29 Comments Earlier in the year, Guardians of the Galaxy #151 was cancelled. Bleeding Cool was first to mention it, but writer Gerry Duggan was on hand to assure people. 9 Nov Pedro Tavares @pepsi_Plunge @cracksh0t @gerryduggan @aaronkuder what happened to the GotG book is it really cancelled? Gerry Duggan ✔ @gerryduggan We're doing something very big, stay tuned for more details. @allredmd is still busy drawing Warlock. 6:39 PM - Nov 9, 2017 7 7 Replies 4 4 Retweets 17 17 likes Twitter Ads info and privacy The storyline was then reissued as Infinity Countdown#1: Adam Warlock for the following month, with the same writer and storyline but artist Michael Allred suddenly replacing Aaron Kuder. Gerry Duggan ✔ @gerryduggan Folks, Guardians Of The Galaxy IS wrapping at #150, but it's because I pitched a story to @marvel that was way bigger than just Guardians. HUGE stories are coming your way beginning in February. More soon. 4:52 PM - Dec 5, 2017 56 56 Replies 124 124 Retweets 478 478 likes Twitter Ads info and privacy Then the five issue series taking on Aaron Kuder’s storyline… Well, the kind of Marvel gossip that has been reaching me quite a bit today tells me that the reason the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book was cancelled was lower than expected sales. Duggan’s pitch was accepted as a way to turn that around, but needed a new series for those stories. Hence Infinity Countdown! That there was always meant to be an Infinity tie-in book, but that Guardians was meant to continue alongside. Internally covers with trade dress had been prepared for Guardians of the Galaxy #151 all the way to #155. And then Duggan pitched this rescue package… Maybe it may benefit from a new #1 that follows and maybe the Guardians appearance in Avengers: Infinity War may help? It would be embarrassing at Marvel to have success with these characters in movie form, but not in the comic books that once inspired them… (Last Updated December 29, 2017 1:18 pm )
