variety.com/2016/film/news/mcg-babysitter-netflix-new-line-bella-thorne-1201939879/ McG’s ‘The Babysitter’ Moves to Netflix From New Line McG’s “The Babysitter” has moved from New Line Cinema to Netflix after Boies/Schiller Film Group acquired rights from the studio. Boies/Schiller and McG’s Wonderland Sound and Vision co-financed the movie, which has already wrapped filming. New Line had acquired the spec in 2015 after a heated bidding war quickly put the pic in production. “The Babysitter” had been awaiting a release date, but given the crowded slate of New Line’s existing commitments, the studio, working closely with Zack Schiller and McG, decided to sell the film to Boies/Schiller and Wonderland instead. Sources were unable to disclose a price, but said it was in the high-seven to low-eight-figure range. Brian Duffield penned the original script, with McG directing. McG and Mary Viola are producing with David Boies, Zack Schiller, Steven Bello, Duffield, and James McGough serving as exec producers. Devin Andre and Jimmy Warden are co-producers. The movie stars Bella Thorne, Robbie Amell, Samara Weaving, Andrew Bachelor, Hana Mae Lee, and Judah Lewis. It follows a lonely, 12-year-old boy who falls in love with his hot babysitter only to discover that she’s part of a satanic cult that wants to kill him. This is the second film starring Thorne that Boies/Schiller has sold in the past two months. Open Road recently bought the romantic drama “Midnight Sun,” and the film is set for a wide theatrical release on July 14. WME Global and Stroock & Stroock represented Boies/Schiller in the sale.

www.indiewire.com/2017/10/babysitter-trailer-netflix-sexy-comedy-horro-mcg-1201883288/‘The Babysitter’: Watch the First Trailer for Netflix’s Bloody New Comedy-Horror Film by McG The film hits Netflix on Friday the 13th of October. A satanic cult meets spin-the-bottle in the trailer for Netflix’s “The Babysitter,” directed McG (“Charlie’s Angels”) and starring Samara Weaving and Bella Thorne. The high-school comedy-horror film revolves around a sweet 12-year old boy Cole (Judah Lewis) in love with his babysitter Allison (Thorne). When Cole stays up to spy on Allison and her friends playing a hot-and-heavy game of spin-the-bottle his eyes light up with excitement. Things take a violent turn as french kissing descends into stabbing with blood splatter that erupts like a fountain, covering one bystander who starts freaking out about getting a STD. The first moment of violence captures the comedic tone of the film, which has fun playing with the teen movie stereotypes of hot, shallow high schoolers. The 80s high school movie troupes being hit home even further with the trailer set to the pop classic “Tainted Love.” The jokes are taken to the next level with the crew’s brilliant idea of videoing a human sacrifice because it would go viral on social media. “People have always done human sacrifice,” says one character unimpressed with the idea. “Yeah, but not in America with hot people,” retorts the stereotypical, gum-smacking cheerleader. The film keeps it’s foot firmly planted in irony, but without forgetting the horror. When the clique/cult discovers Cole is spying on them they stop at nothing to keep him quiet, as the action heats up and the lighting turns noir. It’s the first movie directed by McG since “3 Days to Kill” in 2014, as the “Charlie’s Angels” director has been more focused on his career as a TV producer (“Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments” and “Lethal Weapon”). According to Variety, “The Babysitter” was financed by McG’s Wonderland Sound and Vision. After production, the film was acquired by Netfix from Newline for big money – high-seven to low-eight-dollar range. The film will be available to Netflix subscribers on Friday the 13th of October.
