variety.com/2016/film/asia/peter-rabbit-to-shoot-in-australia-1201849639/ Sony’s ‘Peter Rabbit’ to Shoot in Australia Sony’s “Peter Rabbit” adaptation will shoot in Sydney, Australia, with James Corden and Rose Byrne providing key casting. The move was confirmed following an injection of regional government finance from New South Wales’ ‘Made in NSW’ fund. Announcement of the location and the funding was made Thursday by Troy Grant, NSW’s deputy premier and minister for the arts. “This production, secured for NSW through the governments new A$20 million Made in NSW fund, will create jobs for 55 local actors and more than 600 crew, and will showcase our state to the world,” Grant said in a statement reposted by Animal Logic Entertainment on its website. The Australia- and Los Angeles based effects and production company has set the Beatrix Potter adaptation with Sony Pictures. The picture may also be eligible for Australia’s federal rebate scheme. “The (NSW) region is famous for verdant beauty that will provide ‘Peter Rabbit’ with a warm and impressive backdrop,” said Andy Davis, Columbia Pictures’ president of production administration, according to local media. The film is a hybrid of live action and animation, with Will Gluck directing. Animal Logic said that animation production had already begun and that live action lensing will begin in January 2017. Byrne will perform in a live action role, while Corden will provide the voice of Mr McGregor, the human whose garden the eponymous rabbit regularly raids.
