The rumored "Tetris" movie has been confirmed to be a real project and part of a Sci-Fi trilogy, according to Empire. Film producer Larry Kasanoff told the magazine that the story behind film was so big they had to split it in three parts — but what could possibly be the plot of a movie featuring giant, colorful blocks? Kasanoff said the film won't just be anthropomorphized blocks falling from the sky or battling. "We're not going to have blocks with feet running around the movie," he said. "But it's great that people think so — it sets the bar rather low." The trilogy is currently dubbed as "Untitled Tetris Sci-Fi Project" and will focus on the theme of creating order out of chaos. "We want the story to be a surprise, but it's a big science-fiction movie," Kasanoff said. "I guarantee you it's not what you think. No one has come remotely close to figuring out what we're doing. " The Tetris film does not have a shooting date yet, but casting is already underway. It's estimated to have a budget of $80 million. This is not the first time Kasanoff has tried making a film adaptation of a video game, he was also helped produced "Mortal Kombat" — which can arguably be one of the best video game movies to date. Maybe "Tetris" won't turn out to be another "Pixels."
