variety.com/2016/digital/asia/catchplay-expands-vod-operation-to-indonesia-1201788188/ Catchplay Expands VoD Operation to Indonesia Taiwan-based film distributor and producer, Catchplay has expanded its new video on demand service into Indonesia. The move follows a partnership deal with Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk (TELKOM), Indonesia’s leading telecommunication group and number one IPTV service provider. Telkom’s IndiHome subscribers will be the first group of customers to enjoy access to the service’s collection. They may get up to 6 months fully-sponsored by the company. Prior to Indonesia, Catchplay had launched its VOD service in Taiwan in March 2016. The company’s content partnerships include NBC Universal and Warner Brothers, as well as regional local distributors and producers, PrimaCinema and StarVision. “Instead of having a very similar set of library for all markets like a lot of other players do, it is our belief to provide a content offering tailored for each market, said Timothy Chen, chairman. “According to our research, 60% of the region’s consumers primarily switch to paid on-demand services for movie content; and 80% of that revenue is for new releases. In other words, new movies represent 48% – of audience’s monetizable attention. This perfectly aligns with the direction of our service with a clear focus on movies, especially the best new movies for the market,” said Catchplay CEO Daphne Yang.
