Rose Byrne (Neighbors) is in negotiations to star in the comedy Home Again for writer-director Hallie Meyers-Shyer. Nancy Meyers (It’s Complicated) is producing alongside Black Bicycle Entertainment’s Erika Olde, who is also financing. Based on a script by Meyers-Shyer, Home Again follows a recently separated mother of two whose new life in Los Angeles is overturned when she decides to take in three young, charismatic guys. Production is set to begin in August in Los Angeles with MadRiver Pictures introducing the film to international buyers in Cannes. CAA is repping domestic rights.
“Hallie and Nancy make a dynamic team who effortlessly blend tough, female-driven themes with comedic sstories which tackle dramatic issues,” said Black Bicycle Entertainment’s Erika Olde. “Rose Byrne is an exceptionally rare talent with both natural comedic-timing and grace,”
Multi-hyphenate Meyers has a long, successful career working in the femme-oriented comedy and dramedy genres. She most recently wrote, directed and produced The Intern starring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro for Warner Bros. Credits also include It’s Complicated starring Meryl Streep; The Holiday starring Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz; and Something’s Gotta Give starring Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton.
Byrne can next be seen in Universal’s Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising opposite Seth Rogen and Zac Efron. Meyers-Shyer is represented by WME and Byrne, Meyers and Olde are represented by CAA.
Launched in 2014 by filmmaker Erika Olde, Black Bicycle Entertainment develops, finances and produces commercial and prestige feature films and has sought to establish itself as a talent-friendly home for filmmakers to pursue bold, character-driven material. The company is also financing and producing Claire and Jake Scott’s The Burning Woman with Scott Free Productions and written by Brad Ingelsby (Out of the Furnace). Black Bicycle Entertainment is in pre-production on Susanna White’s Woman Walks Ahead starring Jessica Chastain and in currently in post-production on Sacha Gervasi’s November Criminals starring Ansel Elgort and Chloë Grace Moretz for Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions.
