LD Entertainment is producing the pic, which chronicles Iowa City’s West High girls volleyball team and its improbable run to the state championship under the guidance of their tough-love coach Kathy Bresnahan (Hunt) after the death of their star player Caroline “Line” Found. LD is fully financing, and casting is underway for a July shooting start. David Aaron Cohen (Friday Night Lights) penned the script with revisions by Elissa Matsueda. LD’s Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon and Scott Holroyd are producing alongside Apex Entertainment’s Mark Ciardi (McFarland USA) and Campbell McInnes. “Telling Caroline Found’s story is something that I’ve pursued for many years,” Liddell said. “It is truly inspiring and shows the resilience and toughness of young female athletes. I can’t imagine a better actor than Helen Hunt to carry this message to the big screen.” Hunt, who recently was set to star in Fox’s upcoming drama series Shots Fired, is repped by CAA. McNamera is repped by APA.
