AAA/Lucha Underground Star Wants Out
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Dave Meltzer reports that AAA/Lucha Underground star King Cuerno/Hijo del Fantasma wants out of his current Lucha Underground/AAA deal and is unhappy with his current role in both companies. This is the reason that he has not appeared in AAA in almost a month and was not at any Lucha Underground Season Three tapings so far. According to Meltzer the WWE has offered him a spot in the upcoming Global Cruiserweight Series and he wants to be in it, but he signed a seven year contract with Lucha Underground back before season one which prohibits him from doing that. Also, Dave Meltzer is reporting that Prince Puma (Ricochet) has an out clause in his contract that would allow him to leave the promotion after season three, and he is planning to do so with an offer from WWE on the table. Some have suggested that he will be a part of the Global Cruiserweight Series but season three will not end until late 2017 so Puma would definitely miss that tournament unless Lucha Underground allows him to leave early.
Lucha Underground Stars at WrestleCon, La Parka Jr. Injured
At this past weekend’s WrestleMania weekend several Lucha Underground stars made their presence felt with a lot of appearances. Rey Misterio Jr., Octagon Jr., Pentagon Jr., Aerostar, Drago, AR Fox, Jack Evans, Brian Cage, Ricochet/Prince Puma, Johnny Mundo, and Bestia 666 all appeared and signed autographs at WrestleCon as well as did a Lucha Underground Q&A panel. Many of those stars appeared at a Lucha event on 04/01 in Dallas along with other AAA stars. One of those AAA stars was La Parka Jr. who appeared in the Main Event of the event on Friday night, and ended up being taken away by ambulance. During the match he performed a Sunset Flip on Pentagon Jr. and seemed to simply pass out or faint. Certain websites have suggested that he suffered some form of whiplash during the move but others have suggested he simply fainted because of the heat inside the building they were in (which was packed with over 1,000 fans). Then on Saturday at WrestleCon’s Supershow Pentagon Jr. defeated Sami Callihan, who just signed with Lucha Underground, in the opener. Later in the night, in a Trios Match, Octagon Jr. teamed with Drago and Aerostar to defeat Jack Evans, TNA”s Tigre Uno, and Bestia 666 in what was said to be a fantastic match with fans throwing money in the ring. Lucha Underground announcer Matt Striker and Lucha Underground star Shane Strickland (Killshot) teamed with Joey Ryan, Candice LeRae, and Tommy Dreamer in a losing effort in a wild 10-Man Tag Team Match against Jeff Jarrett, Sonjay Dutt, Brian Myers, Luke Hawx, and Jessicka Havok. In the Semi-Main Event Lucha Underground’s Rey Misterio Jr. and Ricochet (Prince Puma) teamed with Ricochet’s NJPW partner Matt Sydal against Lucha Underground’s Brian Cage with Chris Hero and Zack Sabre Jr. in another wild trios match. Then, Pentagon Jr. performed a second time as the mystery opponent in the Main Event Monsters Ball Match that ended up as a TNA vs. Lucha Underground match. It involved TNA’s Jeff Hardy, Abyss, Andrew Everett, and Trevor Lee along with Lucha Underground’s AR Fox and Pentagon Jr. in a match where Hardy pinned Pentagon following a Swanton off of a broken ladder. Ricochet/Prince Puma was all over the place that weekend facing TJ Perkins on 04/01 for EVOLVE 58, facing Will Ospreay at EVOLVE 59 on 04/02, and then the Supershow on 04/02.
La Parka Jr. Scary Injury
At this past weekend’s WrestleMania Weekend festivities AAA’s La Parka Jr. suffered a pretty scary injury in the Main Event of the AAA show outside of Dallas, Texas. As he was doing a Sunset Flip of Pentagon Jr. he seemed to just faint. Neither Parka or AAA have spoken about the injury but website Adictos al Deportes claims that it was a spinal injury while others are saying that he simply fainted due to the heat in the building.

* NOTES *
– Opener and fourth matches should be great. I would expect the Psicosis led Perros del Mal to jump on Pentagon at some point.
– Ricky Marvin vs. Bengala is certainly interesting. Marvin was obviously the original Bengala and a few weeks ago went back to working under his real name for some reason. It is expected that this will be Parka Negra’s new gimmick. That Parka Negra character has been pretty much just a transition for people to go into another gimmick. El Zorro was the first Parka Negra and that was his transition between feuds. Then Ultimo Gladiador took up the Parka Negra character and feuded with Zorro for a brief period before being moved into the Demon Rocker role as one of the Soul Rockers. The current Parka Negra is Dizzy, a young luchador that worked under the “Dizzy” a few times before taking up the Parka Negra name. He has worked mainly house/spot shows under the name but has appeared on TV as Parka Negra a few times as well.
