AMBI Group and Lantica Media Announce Partnership for Co-Productions and New Post-Production Facility
Jointly Operated Cutting-Edge VFX and Post Production Services to be Located at Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios
Lantica Media, one of the fastest growing entertainment companies in the Caribbean, and AMBI Group (“AMBI”), the consortium of vertically integrated film development, production, finance and distribution companies owned and operated by Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi, have announced a collaboration agreement between the two companies for a multi-picture co-production and co-financing deal for feature films in both the English and Spanish languages.
Additionally, the two companies have agreed to establish a new post-production facility specializing in visual effects and 2D to stereoscopic 3D conversion at Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios, under the AIC Studios banner. AIC is the AMBI-owned VFX and animation services company based in Toronto, Canada.
The new facility in the Dominican Republic is expected to open this year. The announcement was made by Lantica Media CEO Antonio Gennari and AMBI co-founders and principals Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi.
AMBI and Lantica have committed to making 3 English and Spanish language feature films over the next 3-5 years with budgets ranging depending on the scope of the project. The films will be fully financed by AMBI and Lantica. AMBI Distribution, the worldwide sales arm of the AMBI Group, will oversee worldwide distribution for the slate of co-produced films.
“We are extremely pleased with this next phase of our development,” commented Gennari. “Our long-term goals have always been to create a full-service facility in the Dominican Republic and with AMBI’s partnership, we will be able to add visual effects and 3D conversion to the list of services. Additionally, Andrea and his team have a proven track record making them a strong production and financing partner. We look forward to continuing to expand the offering of entertainment services here in the D.R. as well as offer quality visual effects to our customers and producing partners.”
Andrea Iervolino said, “The movie business is flourishing in the Dominican Republic, and throughout the Caribbean, thanks to companies like Lantica Media investing in high quality productions that have a halo effect around the region. As a result, there is an increased need for post-production and VFX services that are geographically advantageous to use and we are thrilled to be able to offer these tools and resources. Monika and I, together with Antonio, are very excited about the collaboration between our companies.”
Monika Bacardi added, “The Caribbean region is laden with rich story ideas, locations and talented filmmakers, and on a whole, exemplifies the vision we have to make high quality movies that will be appealing on a global scale.”
