While it’s certainly understandable if some doubt has since crept into the minds of fans — after all, there’s been talking of a follow-up since 199o — director Tim Burton assures it’s really, really happening. “The film is a go and has been approved by the Warner Bros. team,” the filmmaker told ShowbizSpy. “We have talked with the cast members we wanted for the film and they are all on board, this includes both Winona and Michael [Keaton]. We have the script in hand, everything is in place. All we need to do now is get ready to start filming.” Of course, when filming will start is another matter. Burton could have room on his schedule following the release in September of “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” but he’s also attacked to Disney’s live-action “Dumbo.” And Keaton’s dance card has been pretty full since “Birdman.” But, hey, fans have waited 26 years for “Beetlejuice 2.” They can probably hold on a little bit longer.
