Universal Pictures has now said its Untitled Monster Franchise Film will move from March 30, 2018 to April 13, 2018 (so far, a clean weekend). Essentially, Monster moves away from Easter weekend after Warner Bros.’ announced last week that the Steven Spielberg film Ready Player One was jumping onto the holiday weekend. Talk about bumper cars. Ready Player One originally was bumped from December 15, 2017 after Disney moved Star Wars: Episode VIII from the summer to that pre-Christmas date. Uni’s epic action-adventure movie is one in a series produced and overseen by Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek series) and Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious series). The film is part of the studio’s push to revive their tried and true classic monsters. The Mummy, which is casting up right now, is one of those films. Last week, Mike Fleming broke the news that Johnny Depp was boarding The Invisible Man, one of these rebooted Uni monster films. However, sources tell Deadline that it’s yet to be determined exactly what monster movie will be playing on April 13, 2018.
