Kurt Angle To Face Rey Mysterio Next Month On Wrestling/Boxing/MMA iPPV By Brad Davis on February 12, 2016@sescoops
Kurt Angleis officially done with TNA Wrestling, but he’s already scheduled to return to the ring next month. Angle will face Rey Mysterio on an iPPV next month presented UR Fight on a card that will feature pro wrestling, boxing, grappling and mixed martial arts contests.
The event takes place on March 20 from Phoenix, Arizona at the Celebrity Theatre. The iPPV event will feature a “quadruple” main event:
Wrestling: Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. Boxing: Roy Jones Jr. vs. A fan MMA: Ken Shamrock vs. Dan Severn Grappling: Chael Sonnen vs. Michael Bisping
One of the more ambitious plans for a show has been announced for March 20th in Phoenix, Arizona and being called UR Fight. The card would feature a mixed martial arts fight between Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn, a professional wrestling match between Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio, a grappling match between Michael Bisping and Chael Sonnen, as well as a Rocky-style gimmick boxing fight with a fan fighting Roy Jones Jr. and if the fan wins, they take home $100,000. The names involved automatically make the costs of running this card astronomical without even taking into account the grand prize if a fan should somehow beat Roy Jones Jr.
The fight involving Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn is interesting because Shamrock is fighting next Friday night at Bellator 149 against Royce Gracie. The Severn fight could only happen if Shamrock is not injured and / or medically suspended after the fight with Gracie and is a rapid turnaround for Shamrock to fight four-weeks later.
The Roy Jones Jr. fight will be sanctioned by the Arizona Boxing and MMA Commission and they will ensure that this is a competitive fight. This would also apply for the mixed martial arts component of this card.
The event is currently only going to be available through the URshow.tv streaming site as opposed to traditional pay-per-view. One of the major incentives for a lot of the names involved is that there is a significant revenue sharing plan in place in regards to iPPV sales, sponsorships and advertising. All the talent is being paid a guaranteed purse regardless of the business the show generates. The points the fighters and wrestlers have on the back-end is said to be very significant.
The director of programming for URshow is Toronto-based Aaron Avruskin, who is the son of the late Milt Avruskin, who was the voice of International Wrestling and Superstars of Wrestling.
URshow.tv is planning many different events and are not strictly looking at fights as a destination for their audience. They will be offering a free show the week prior with a $10,000,000 “Hole-in-One” golf challenge that will be hosted by Chris McDonald, who played Shooter McGavin in “Happy Gilmore”.
There will be additional details released by the group this coming Tuesday.
The Arizona State Athletic Commission has approved the ur.tv promotion's show for 3/20 in Phoenix. That's the iPPV show with Roy Jones vs. a fan, Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio in a pro wrestling match, Michael Bisping vs. Chael Sonnen in a grappling match and Ken Shamrock vs. Dan Severn in an MMA fight. This sounds like an idea that would only fly in Texas, but apparently Arizona is just as willing to participate in this Bellator-esque madness. This seems like a recipe for disaster on so many levels. I can't for one second believe that Kurt Angle is capable of having anything less than his usual wreckless awesome match and he will be motivated to do it here. Then of course we have Ken Shamrock vs. Dan Severn in the MMA Seniors tour, and we haven't even got to the match most likely to get someone killed. No, that honor goes to Roy Jones boxing a fan. When I first heard that, I thought, "Wow, I hope A. Fan stands for A Fantastic boxer." Then I chuckled to myself. Sure, Roy Jones could cover up for 3:00 minutes and run out the clock... but if you think that, you've never seen Roy Jones box. Roy would not think it's cute to get humiliated by taking it easy and accidentally getting knocked down or even hit. All of this makes this PPV definitely worth buying!
URshow.TV has the unique mixed boxing, pro wrestling, MMA and grappling show Sunday on iPPV. Tank Abbott failed his physical by the Arizona Boxing and MMA Commission so they are looking at the last minute for a new opponent for Dan Severn. Tank Abbot was replacing the previously scheduled Ken Shamrock. This show also features Roy Jones, Jr in a boxing match against a fan/contest winner(Vyron Philips) for a chance to win $100k, Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio are scheduled for a pro wrestling match on the show along with Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping in a grappling match. Chael and Bisping were both guests on Josh Nason's Punch Out!

Rey vs. Angle This past weekend Rey Misterio Jr. faced Kurt Angle in a 2/3 Falls Match at the inaugural UR Fight event which was a hybrid Boxing, MMA, and Pro Wrestling event. Misterio won the match after rapper Riff Raff (who is terrible) stopped Kurt Angle from using a chair and Rey hit a 619 followed by a Splash off the top. The match was pretty good until Riff Raff got involved. Rey and Kurt made a huge payday for the event but the overall show was a pretty huge failure as barely 200 people were in attendance and the iPPV didn’t have many buys either.
