Fandango, a unit of NBCUniversal, plans to utilize M-GO as part of its upcoming “super ticket” endeavor, which will bundle theatrical tickets with home release products, as well as other promotional offers. Among the available super tickets, Fandango plans to offer “movie catch up” pre-sale bundles that will let ticket buyers watch previous franchise installments prior to a film’s release. Other bundles will include collectables, exclusive fan experiences, and bonus content. Fandango also plans to use M-GO in creating new projects and services as part of FandangoLabs, its research and development group launched last year in collaboration with other industry leaders. In addition to the acquisition of M-GO, the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group and Technicolor are exploring further collaborations on next-gen video technologies including VR and augmented reality products. Thanks in part to films like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, 2015 was a record-breaking year for Fandango, which experienced 81% growth year over year and brought its total U.S. screen count to more than 27,000.
