variety.com/2016/film/news/red-platoon-sony-memoir-immersive-pictures-1201686564/ Sony Options Memoir ‘Red Platoon’ With Immersive Pictures Producing Sony Pictures has optioned the memoir “Red Platoon: A True Story of American Valor” by Clinton Romesha with Josh Bratman on board to produce. Bratman brought the book to the studio under his first-look deal and will produce under his Immersive Pictures banner. The memoir tells the story of the Battle for Outpost Keating, one of the bloodiest battles for U.S. forces during the War in Afghanistan. On October 3, 2009, more than 300 Taliban fighters launched a predawn raid on a remote and controversial American outpost near the Afghan-Pakistani border, overrunning its perimeter defenses and breaching its wire. Staff Sgt. Clinton Romesha, a husband and father of three children, planned and led a small band of soldiers in a counterattack against seemingly insurmountable odds, saving dozens of American lives, and ultimately receiving the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions. Sony execs Palak Patel, Ryan Doherty and Dan Kagan will oversee the project for the studio. Josie Freedman and Jennifer Joel at ICM Partners handled book and life rights. Bratman and his Immersive Pictures have been very active on the book front over the last year, having optioned a handful of books including “The Trap” by Melanie Raabe and “The Harlem Hellfighters,” which they are co-producing with Overbrook Entertainment. He is also producing a “Gran Turismo” adaptation of the popular video game with Dana Brunetti.
