A week after it saw a second season order for its Syfy drama “The Expanse,” Alcon Entertainment has announced that industry vet Laura Lancaster has joined the company as president of its TV group.
Lancaster, who previously served as exec VP of drama programming for NBC Entertainment, will continue the company’s mission to develop original programming for broadcast on network and cable television. She will report to Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEO’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, who made the announcement.
“Laura is a true talent; her impressive track record of profitable and creative shows speaks for itself, and we are excited for her to bring her vast expertise at Alcon,” Johnson and Kosove said in a statement.
At NBC Entertainment, Lancaster handled development and current programming for NBC Network and Universal Television Studio. Recent projects included “Revolution,” “Parenthood,” “Hannibal,” “Grimm” and “The Night Shift.”
Her resume also includes serving as senior VP of drama development at Fox Broadcasting Co., where she oversaw cult hits like “Glee,” “Fringe” and “Lie to Me.” She was also senior VP of drama programming at NBC Universal Television Studio.
In addition to “The Expanse,” Alcon TV also financed and produced Alex Gibney’s Emmy-nominated four-hour miniseries documentary “Frank Sinatra: All or Nothing.”
“I’ve been a fan of Alcon’s for many years, and have watched how Andrew and Broderick have created an extensive and diverse library of feature films with great admiration,” said Lancaster. “I feel fortunate to join the Television Group at such a remarkably productive and successful time.”
