'Supergirl' Taps 'Chasing Life's' Italia Ricci to Recur as DC Comics Villain
The actress will make her debut in episode 14.
Silver Banshee is coming to Supergirl.
The freshman superhero drama has tapped Chasing Life star Italia Ricci to recur as the famous DC Comics villain, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Ricci will make her debut in episode 14 as Siobhan Smythe, Cat Grant's new hire who initially becomes a work nemesis for Kara (Melissa Benoist). However, she later proves a more deadly foe for Supergirl when she takes on the mantle of Silver Banshee.
This is Ricci's first small-screen gig since her ABC Family drama was canceled in October after two seasons. Ricci's fiance, Robbie Amell, is also a part of the DC Comics universe, playing Firestorm on the first season of The Flash. The Flash also hails from Supergirl exec producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg.
"We are so excited to be working with Italia," Kreisberg said in a statement. "We've been a fan of her work for years and we cannot wait to see her take on this iconic comic book role."
Silver Banshee isn't the only famed DC Comics character headed to Supergirl. Peter Facinelli was cast as tech mogul Maxwell Lord, Revenge grad Henry Czerny will play the Toyman and Prison Break alum Chris Vance will portray Non. The show is also set to introduce a teenage Clark Kent later this season.
Supergirl, which was recently picked up for seven more episodes, airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
Ricci is repped by ICM, Protégé Entertainment and Felker, Toczek.
