Former WCW star Devon Storm, a.k.a. Crowbar, joined the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling today. They sent us these highlights:
Being a "Co Crusierweight-Champion" w/ Daffney and a dropped angle with The Demon:
"They always seemed like they were grooming me for the cruiserweight thing and then I win it with Daffney, then all of a sudden that was dropped. They did a thing where I actually thought it was great and it was funny and there was a lot of potential with it and that was where I was half-assed stalking The Demon thinking he is Gene Simmons and half-assed worshiping him. We actually had stuff written up for that and had thrown some suggestions but it was just washed and it just got flushed right down the toilet for no reason. A lot of things were started and could have escalated to mean something and then all of a sudden it was gone and with no continuity."
Never getting a singles feud with Chris Candido over the Cruiserweight Championship:
It would have been great because we've had a million singles matches. We had one there and I want to say it was a Thunder and was like six or eight minuets and I think it was fantastic. I had really good chemistry with Chris, we worked great together and I loved him both personally and professionally. We would speak about how much potential we had to work with and had so many ideas for matches and as fast as they did the first one it was over and done. There was definitely potential it just never happened.
Working with Terry Funk being a dream come true:
"It was so awesome. One of my favorite matches of all time was the New York Knockout with Terry Funk and Ric Flair and that was a hardcore match before things were actually called hardcore. They used tables, chairs and the microphone and they wrestled too at the same time. We tried our best to kind of do that during our Hardcore match. We were kind of locked into 'we want this prop used' or wanting to use a garbage can but we also tried to tell a story. It wasn't just two people playing whack-a-mole on each other."
Is storytelling a lost art in television matches:
"It's harder and harder to tell a story with some of the matches getting shorter and shorter. On an Independent show you will see matches where guys can develop a story. On TV they have X amount of time, some of the matches are short but I've also seen one where they do give the guys time. As a whole when they allow the guys to do it you see some good stuff."
Being surprised that Vince McMahon bought WCW after Eric Bischoff seemed so close:
"We were all really shocked because prior to the Vince McMahon purchase it really seemed like the Eric Bischoff purchase through Fusient Media seemed like that's where the company was going. Eric was prepping for it. It seemed like a done deal and when the bomb dropped that TBS and TNT weren't going to carry wrestling anymore that killed the deal. Why would you buy a wrestling company that didn't have a TV deal in place? The next thing you knew, I got released and shortly there after we found out the actual purchaser of WCW would be Vince McMahon and he buys it for a 'song and dance' and now he has all kind of content for the network and game over, Vince wins."
