Forssell joins to help oversee rapid expansion for the company, which has evolved beyond its multichannel network roots to multiple new lines of business including an upcoming new SVOD service, live events and original productions like straight-to-iTunes movie “The Outfield.” While Forssell previously served as CEO of social-video outfit ShowYou, he is better known for stepping into the CEO role at Hulu in 2013 after the exit of founding CEO Jason Kilar. He had been with Hulu since 2007 as senior VP content and distribution, where he oversaw the company’s licensing and original production efforts. “Andy is a proven leader who not only understands the new world of online video, he helped build it,” said Fullscreen CEO George Strompolos in a statement. “As COO, Andy will help us scale and manage our operation as we prepare for even more growth and innovation.” The COO post at Fullscreen has been vacant since last year, when the previous holder of the office, Ezra Cooperstein, transitioned to president at the company, where he remains. “I look forward to working with George, Ezra and the talented team at Fullscreen to continue building what is fast becoming a truly premier multi-platform media company,” said Forssell in a statement.
