Chandor Closes Deal To Direct ‘Triple Frontier’ At Paramount Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr. broke the news in June that A Most Violent Year director J.C. Chandor was in early discussions to direct Triple Frontier, the Paramount Pictures drama that was to be spearheaded by Zero Dark Thirty helmer Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal. Now Chandor’s deal is done, and the project can move forward with Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Gartner producing. At one time, both Tom Hanks and Will Smith were circling Boal’s script. The plot has been closely guarded but the film, also known as Sleeping Dogs, is set in the organized crime haven that exists in the border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. It has five main roles. Chandor has more than one project in the works now after deciding at the beginning of the year not to take on the Gulf oil spill pic Deepwater Horizon. Soon after the Triple Frontier talks broke, he signed on to produce with an eye to direct the film adaptation of Vicky Ward’s The Liar’s Ball for A24.
