Wild Bunch Hangs TV Shingle; Sets First Two International Drama Series
As Mipcom approaches, French powerhouse Wild Bunch has unveiled a new TV division and set its first two drama series with sales to launch at the market. Four Seasons is an eight-part Spanish series based upon the novels by Leonardo Padura who won the 2015 Princess of Asturias Award for Literature. Padura adapted the series with Lucia Lopez Coll. Billed as Carribean noir, it centers on detective Mario Conde as he investigates crimes in the crumbling Havana of the 1990s. Félix Viscarret is directing with Tornasol Films producing. Nadcon Production is co-producing with the participation of Spain’s TVE.
Medici: Masters Of Florence chronicles the rise of the Medici family and the Italian Renaissance, with Richard Madden (Game Of Thrones) and Dustin Hoffman attached to star. Frank Spotnitz and Nicholas Meyer created the series as Deadline reported earlier today.
Wild Bunch TV will look to its direct distribution network in France, Germany, Spain, Austria and Italy to source local projects. Carole Baraton, who is also head of international sales on Wild Bunch’s feature side, is running the operation. Diana Bartha will handle development and international distribution, Thomas Triboit is on acquisitions and Aurélia Porret will oversee marketing. Producer Georges Campana will act as an adviser
