NXT was given one location to run, it was given time to let fans fall in love with the characters, it was allowed to be different and it was given a slot on the WWE Network where it could grow and not have the pressure of worrying about getting quarter hour numbers that could make a network happy. It wasn't touring immediately on an advertising budget of $500 a show like ECW was. There were no expectations on NXT. There were huge expectations on ECW, there was no way ECW could live up to what it used to be and with NXT, it was all gravy because there were NO expectations. Plus, Triple H was going to get a lot more freedom and slack then Paul Heyman or Tommy Dreamer were ever going to get.
