CBS has released its fall premiere dates for all of their new and returning shows. The full list is below and is a bit complicated because of NFL Thursday Night Football. Because of few weeks of football, the network will once again move it’s big comedy The Big Bang Theory to Monday nights as it did last fall. What that does is push the premiere of Supergirl back until Monday October 26th at 8:30 pm after the popular comedy and then it moves into it’s regular 8 pm slot the following week with Big Bang Theory moving back to Thursdays on November 5th.
This set up could seriously hurt Supergirl’s chances to catch on. We saw it last year with Constantine, a late October start meant the network had to decide on ordering the back 9 episodes with only two episodes having aired. Will the debut numbers be enough for the network to make that call? And assuming Fox doesn’t delay the start of Gotham, the Batman-centric show that will be airing in the same time slot will already have a few episodes out there to hook the viewers on the new season, which may make it harder for the Girl of Steel to steal them away. And you have to wonder why they would put the DC Comics related property directly up against another DC Comics related property.
