- Billy Corgan surprised a lot of people in TNA when he worked the recent set of tapings in Orlando. Many felt TNA hiring Corgan was a publicity stunt and that he would be working a figurehead position but they were surprised at how much time and effort he was putting into the job. Corgan received a lot of compliments on his interest in the product and put in the time to try and learn what he could, talking to talents and gibing his thoughts and suggestions. Corgan came into the tapings with a full knowledge of all characters and storylines.
- Simon Inoki, who runs the IGF promotion in Japan, was visiting at the last set of TNA tapings.
- We noted before that TNA has announced a live event for September 27th in York, PA, which is the first regular live event since 2014. The reaction in TNA to the announcement was notable because Dixie Carter originally told the talents that they would be running regular events beginning in late summer.
-As noted, Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer that Destination America has canceled TNA effective the end of September. You can read Meltzer's full, detailed report in The Wrestling Observer (subscription required) by clicking here.
Meltzer noted that the main issue has been the cost of programming and advertising rates, as many regular sponsors on the station did not want to advertise on TNA programming. Meltzer also noted that the cancellation was announced to key employees before Destination America made the decision to move Impact Wrestling to Wednesdays and that the story "is very much ongoing." Because the cancellation was announced before the move to Wednesdays, the cancellation isn't definite, although he noted that it wasn't a good sign that people at the station haven't been told anything new since being informed of the cancellation.
TNA's Bob Ryder responded to the reports on Twitter, writing:
For almost 13 years some people have predicted we were about to go out of business. It's no more true today than it was then. #StandUp
— Bob Ryder (@brydertna) May 21, 2015
It should be noted that Ryder didn't mention anything about the promotion being cancelled, but rather tweeted about it folding.
-Amidst rumors that Destination America is planning to cancel Impact Wrestling, TNA has issued a statement, and threatened possible legal action.
"It has come to our attention that several internet news sources have falsely attributed statements to TNA, its executives and broadcasting partner. These false statements constitute defamation and if necessary we will seek all legal remedies available to us," said the statement.
Yesterday, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Destination America planned to cancel TNA Impact, with the source being an internal email among employees at the channel. On Wrestling Observer Live today, Bryan Alvarez said the e-mail was dated several days prior to Destination America announcing Impact would be moving to Wednesdays, and Dave Meltzer of the Observer noted that this is very much an ongoing situation.

Former ECW star Lou "Sign Guy Dudley" D'Angeli took to this Twitter to address fans celebrating the news, writing:
Wrestling biz needs places for the boys to work, learn, & get exposure. Loosing a TV deal is not something people should be gloating about!
— Lou DAngeli ? (@ldangeli) May 21, 2015
Billy Corgan replied to D'Angeli and indicated that Meltzer was being worked by "a sloppy angle":
@ldangeli It wouldn't be so bad if the whole truth was being reported and the person reporting wasn't being worked himself by a sloppy angle
— William Corgan (@billy) May 21, 2015
AND let's remember that I speak from experience, having had things written about me by Meltzer that he never got a statement from me about
— William Corgan (@billy) May 21, 2015
It should be noted that no officials from TNA or Destination America have publicly come out to deny that the station cancelled TNA.
-According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, TNA talent have been told that they'll respond to the Impact Wrestling cancellation rumors at the next television tapings. As of now, the next date for tapings is over a month away, set for June 24-28.
TNA still also has a pay-per-view scheduled for June 28, which will be Slammiversary. The company has four full days of Impact Wrestling tapings leading up to the show, with presumably some of the episodes airing after the live pay-per-view.
Last night Billy Corgan noted on Twitter that he'd just finished up two days worth of meetings for TNA and was very excited for the future of the company. This was shortly before rumors of TNA's cancellation by Destination America surfaced.
Thus far Destination America nor parent network Discovery have made a statement on the status of Impact Wrestling or the cancellation reports.
-- TNA President Dixie Carter posted her first tweet today since Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer that Destination America has canceled TNA. She did not mention Meltzer's report, and just plugged upcoming shows:
A big 13th Anniversary planned starting with a LIVE @impactwrestling Wed, June 24 on @destamerica & a LIVE #Slammiversary Sun, June 28
— Dixie Carter (@tnadixie) May 22, 2015
HUGE Cage Main Event TOMORROW as we air Slammiversary 2014 on @destamerica. Did I mention it is FREE? Spread the word! RT!

- As noted, TNA issued the following statement this afternoon regarding the report: "It has come to our attention that several internet news sources have falsely attributed statements to TNA, its executives and broadcasting partner. These false statements constitute defamation and if necessary we will seek all legal remedies available to us."
Meltzer addressed TNA's statement, writing on Twitter:
@kevingedert2 Why haven't they threatened me is the question. Why haven't they addressed one thing written?
— Dave Meltzer (@davemeltzerwon) May 21, 2015

AND let's remember that I speak from experience, having had things written about me by Meltzer that he never got a statement from me about"
Meltzer compared Corgan's response to that of Vince Russo when Russo accidentally emailed creative instructions to Mike Johnson of PWInsider meant for Mike Tenay. Russo had been secretly working for TNA as a consultant, and tried to play off the email to Johnson as a work before finally admitting that he was working for TNA. Meltzer wrote:
Sort of sad about Corgan, his words are almost identical to Russo about Mike Johnson when he did that story last year.
— Dave Meltzer (@davemeltzerwon) May 22, 2015
I'll be fine being the Mike Johnson, but quite sad he's the Vince Russo.

-According to the Voices of Wrestling podcast, TNA now has egg on its face after Dixie Carter inadvertently sent an email to Destination America insulting the network.
The hosts said that a wrestler contacted them and were sent a screenshot from last week which featured TNA President Dixie Carter referring to the suits at Destination America as "dummies." The screenshot also revealed that Carter had accidentally cc'd the e-mail to the current President of Destination America.
The hosts also specified that they didn't know if the e-mail was before or after the announcement of TNA Impact Wrestling being moved to Wednesday nights. There are rumors running rampant that Destination America was planning to cancel the show within the past few weeks, a situation that still very well may be happening.
This situation is eerily similar to a situation last year which involved Vince Russo accidentally sending scripts to PWInsider's Mike Johnson instead of TNA announcer Mike Tenay. Previously, Spike TV had requested to TNA that Vince Russo not be involved with a company. TNA opted to keep Russo on secretly anyway.
