variety.com/2015/film/festivals/cannes-sundance-screenwriting-lab-launches-in-italy-1201499387/The Sundance screenwriting lab will launch in Italy with eight European screenwriters to be selected for the July 8-11 in session in Capalbio, Tuscany. Modelled on Sundance’s lab in Utah, the four-day Italo workshop will be designed to give screenwriters and directors working on their first or second film a fully immersive space, with Joan Tewkesbury and Erin Cressida Wilson as advisors. Applicants must be European. The deadline is June 1, 2015. The lab is the result of a three-way collaboration between the Capalbio Intl. Film Festival, the Rome Film Festival, and the Toscana Film Commission. “As part of our sustained commitment to supporting international artists, in the last 25 years we have hosted programs in Brazil, Mexico, Jordan, Turkey, Japan, Israel and Central Europe,” said Paul Federbush, international director of the Sundance Institute Feature Film Program, in a statement. “We are excited to partner with Capalbio on this new program, and look forward to deepening our creative support for emerging filmmakers across Europe,” he added.
