‘Monster Trucks’ From Paramount Pushed For The Second Time, Now Out of 2015
Monster Trucks, the live-action/computer-animated film with a $125M price tag from Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies production, has been pushed out of 2015 — the second time the film has been postponed. That’s a heavy amount of interest to shoulder, but it will give them more time ti work on marketing materials for the film. The film, directed by Chris Wedge (Ice Age, Robots and Epic), is said to be an original idea based on the monster truck phenomena. Mary Parent is producing from a script by Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger (Kung Fu Panda and Paramount Animation’s first project The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water); the shooting script was written by Safety Not Guaranteed and Jurassic World director Derek Connolly.
Production on the film, which was announced as another possible franchise for the studio in 2013, began on May 13, 2014. It was considered one of the pet projects of outgoing president of the film group, Adam Goodman.
The studio had the film originally slated for summer and then it was pushed to Christmas 2015, but now it is being moved to March 18, 2016. The only other picture on that date currently is The Divergent Series: Allegiant, Part 1.
Wedge is also a voice actor and was the co-founder of Blue Sky Studios; he directed the company’s’ first computer animated film, Ice Age for Fox, which launched a franchise for that studio.
