variety.com/2015/tv/news/david-krumholtz-ifc-gigis-bucket-list-drag-comedy-1201481245/IFC has given a series order to “Gigi’s Bucket List,” which features David Krumholtz in drag playing a newly rich 76-year-old widow. IFC has ordered eight episodes of the half-hour series, exec produced by Krumholtz and Tim Gibbons (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) along with Grandma’s House Entertainment’s Ben Newmark and Dan Newmark, Ricky Mabe and Zach Golden. Adam Bold and Mike Lopez of Grandma’s House Entertainment will serve as producers. The series revolves around the adventures of Gertrude “Gigi” Rotblum, a newly widowed “yenta,” per IFC, who discovers her husband had a secret bank account. The newfound wealth inspires her to live life to the fullest with her male nurse sidekick played by Ricky Mabe. “This character has been living inside me since birth. Friends have often accused me of acting like a grandma,” said Krumholtz. “It’s an absolute privilege to be bringing Gigi to life for IFC, known for their irreverent brand of comedy and willingness to explore depth of character.” IFC president Jennifer Caserta enthused: “David has done an incredible job of inhabiting this relatable bubbe character.” Makeup master Tony Gardner of Alterian Inc. is on board to craft Krumholtz’s gender and age transformation. Series is to begin production in June for debut later this year.
