variety.com/2015/tv/asia/toei-animation-dragon-ball-super-series-1201483746/Japan’s Toei Animation is set to make ‘Dragon Ball Super,” its first new “Dragon Ball” TV series in over 18 years. Production will be overseen by the series’ original creator, Akira Toriyama. Following the recent hit success of feature film “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F,” the series “Dragon Ball Super” will debut in Japan in July. Fuji TV is also producing. Introduced as a manga in Weekly Shonen Jump, published by Shueisha Inc., in 1984, Dragon Ball has evolved into a global brand. It has played in more than 70 countries, and over 230 million copies of its comic books have been sold. “Toriyama has developed a plot that’s not only a dream come true for Dragon Ball’s millions of fans, but one that will foster in a new generation of viewers,” said Osamu Nozaki, producer for Fuji TV. The story will reunite the franchise’s iconic characters, and follow the aftermath of Goku’s fierce battle with Majin Buu, as he attempts to maintain Earth’s fragile peace. Since its debut in 1956, Toei Animation has produced more than 200 TV series that span 11,000 episodes and more than 220 feature films. It has headquarters in Tokyo and sales offices in Paris, Los Angeles and Hong Kong and representative offices in Shanghai and Taiwan.
