She’ll oversee those operations and continue to report to Wayne Levin, Lionsgate’s General Counsel & Chief Strategic Officer. “Patricia is a skilled financial strategist, superb negotiator and a great team leader,” Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger and Levin say in a written statement. They owe a lot to Laucella. She handled production and talent deals for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and the upcoming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 — including arrangements with director Francis Lawrence and actress Jennifer Lawrence. Laucella also hammered out production and talent deals for Divergent and Insurgent, plus upcoming releases including Allegiant, Gods Of Egypt, the live-action Power Rangers series, Deepwater Horizon, The Last Witch Hunter, La La Land and Wonder. Laucella worked at Warner Bros., MGM, Sony Pictures, and Paramount Pictures before becoming head of Motion Picture Production Legal Affairs at Summit Entertainment, which Lionsgate bought in 2012.
