deadline.com/2015/09/ridley-scott-reveals-prometheus-2-title-1201548826/‘Prometheus 2’ Title Revealed; It Isn’t ‘Prometheus 2’ Seemingly out of nowhere, Ridley Scott has apparently revealed the somewhat unexpected title of his sequel to 2012’s Prometheus. Speaking to the website HeyUGuys while promoting his upcoming film The Martian, Scott said the Prometheus follow-up now is called Alien: Paradise Lost. That by itself is practically a spoiler, indicating the film is more directly connected to the Alien universe than was its predecessor. “Prometheus 2 is not really what it’s going to be,” Scott said. “It’s going to be Alien: Paradise Lost.” He explained in the interview that the film will be more a prequel to 1979’s Alien, examining the “why and how the beast was invented.” Further, the allusion to the poem by John Milton is intentional, with Scott saying that there will be “really a similarity” between it and the film. Yes, he might not have been serious about the title, though the concept is intriguing. It will be some time before Scott gets to work on the sequel-not-sequel to Prometheus however, but Scott’s far more optimistic tale involving space travel, The Martian starring Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain, hits theaters October 2.

Details are scarce, but from previous Scott comments and an official synopsis, we know the colony ship Covenant will land on a seemingly idyllic world populated only by Fassbender’s vindictive android David. Waterston will, presumably, be a member of the Covenant crew. Scott has also revealed that the alien in all its forms will appear in the film, which will being a three part bridge between his 2012 film Prometheus and 1979’s Alien. The film is currently set for a May 30th, 2017 release. s1175.photobucket.com/user/vkm1984/media/katherinewaterston-350x197_zpsmzdw1ge1.jpg.html

www.bleedingcool.com/2016/01/15/ridley-scott-will-pursue-a-hard-r-rating-for-alien-covenant/Ridley Scott Will Pursue A Hard R Rating For Alien: Covenant Posted January 15, 2016 by Erik Amaya Alien: Covenant director Ridley Scott is know for one of the more intense sequences in film history: the chestburster scene in Alien. Though his eventual prequel Prometheus featured a “forced birth” scene full of terrors all its own, it was not as shocking or graphic as its cinematic predecessor despite both films receiving an R rating. But the director told reporters he intends to go full tilt on his next Alien film. “I think I’m going to do pretty hard R, pretty tough,” said Scott at a press conference following The Martian‘s Academy Award nominations, according to Entertainment Weekly. Reflecting back on the chestburster, Scott said, “It was extreme” and teased, “I’m going to try to do that again this year, but much worse.” The film will continue the bridge between Prometheus and Alien as the crew of the colony ship Covenant encounter the homicidal android David on seemingly idyllic world. Katherine Waterston recently signed on to star opposite Michael Fassbender, who returns as David. Prometheus star Noomi Rapace is said to make a small appearance. Alien: Covenant opens on October 6th, 2017.
