The actress and director will preside over the judging panel for the sidebar that is the companion to the Official Competition. The 20 films to be selected will be announced next Thursday in Paris alongside the other main titles. The daughter of Bergman and director Roberto Rossellini, Isabella has long been a Cannes fixture. She has appeared in four Official Selection films, including 1987’s out of competition Tough Guys Don’t Dance, 1980’s competition entry Wild At Heart, 1998’s UCR title The Imposters, and 2008’s competitor Two Lovers. Alongside her UCR duties, Rossellini will be at the 68th Cannes Film Festival to attend the screening of Stig Bjorkman’s documentary Ingrid Bergman, In Her Own Words, which is being shown as part of the Cannes Classics section. She will also launch her own Ingrid Bergman Tribute celebrating the centenary of her mother’s birth. The show, directed by Guido Torlonia and Ludovica Damiani, will be based on both Bergman’s autobiography and correspondence with Roberto Rossellini and will play at some of the world’s major theaters. The rest of the UCR jury will be made up of artists, journalists and festival directors. They will award the UCR Prize and on May 23. Last year’s president was Pablo Trapero with Kornél Mundruczó’s White God crowned the winner.
