Rose City Comic Con in Tyler, Texas, is moving to a new venue as organizers expect an increase in attendance from last year’s number of 6,000. www.tylerpaper.com/TP-News+Local/215276/rose-city-comic-con-names-new-venue#.VP10c0uKzGkRose City Comic Con names new venue Following the success of the 2014’s Rose City Comic Con, the event’s promoters told the Tyler Morning Telegraph on Friday night that the Mayfair Building on the East Texas Fair Grounds is the new venue for the upcoming convention. Chief promoter of the comic con, George Jones, said the new venue was needed because of the overwhelming number of people who attended the comic con. “Attendance was overwhelming for the hotel (Holiday Inn) we had last year, and it was absolutely the biggest hotel space Tyler had to offer,” Jones said. “With this new space, we have room to grow for maybe a couple years. And people won’t be jammed up against each other and walking sideways like they were last year.” Jones said nearly 6,000 people attended the event this past year, and more are anticipated for this year’s event. Because of this, Jones said they needed a place to hold the comic con for the next few years. According to the Rose City Comic Con’s Facebook page, the Mayfair Building’s 26,000 or so square feet is greater than the comic con’s two previous venues. For those interested in the latest comic con news, Jones said to follow the event’s Facebook page because announcements are being made daily.
