It's billed as the Valley's largest comic and pop culture convention.
The Allentown Comic Con will have 43 comic artists and television and movie personalities, 30 comics and trading card vendors, as well as a costume contest.
Heading the lineup are TV and movie personalities. Meet Bonnie Piesse, an Australian singer/songwriter/actress best known for her role in "Star Wars" episodes 2 and 3 as Beru, the woman who goes on to raise Luke Skywalker. On hand will be Walter Jones, the original black Power Ranger, and martial arts actor and stuntman Taimak, who played "Bruce" Leroy Green in 1985's "The Last Dragon." They will lead a panel about martial arts on TV.
For the younger set are voice actress Veronica Taylor, who is Ash/Red and May on "Pokemon," April on "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and Abby on "Cubix." Taylor will give a talk on what it's like to be part of a hit show.
Rusty Gilligan, production designer on AMC's "The Walking Dead," who helped give the show much of its signature look, will lead a "Walking Dead" panel.
What would a comic con be without comic book artists? This year's con features two veterans of DC and Marvel — Ralph "Rags" Morales and Mark McKenna.
Morales is best known as the artist behind DC's 2004 hit "Identity Crisis" and has worked on "Wonder Woman," "Batman Confidential" and "Nightwing." McKenna has worked on big names like "Batman," "Wolverine," "Iron Man," "The Incredible Hulk" and "Star Wars" — more than 450 comics in all.
"Rocko's Modern Life" cartoonist Carol "Cotty" Kilbanks will have a special session to discuss the processes that go into the creation of the Nickelodeon show.
Don't miss the chance to chat with Tom Krohne, who has made a living creating monster art for logos, T-shirts, comics and more.
A first will be the debut of "The Guardian and the Graduates," a graphic novel created in a partnership between Lehigh Carbon Community College, Mosaic Interactive and artist Craig "Old School" Blake. The comic was created to show high school graduates how they can expanded their minds by going to LCCC. The first 500 people who go to LCCC's booth will receive a copy of the book, signed by Blake.
Another first is an exclusive trading card set, with 14 cards highlighting the Allentown Comic Con guests to be collected at various tables throughout the show.
There will also be a costume contest for all ages, judged by cosplayers Victoria Cosplay, Clyde Leonard, Paul Sutt, Long Island Batman, Zel Gret, Khor Mariik, Nick Abruzzese and The Knightmage. Get a dollar off admission if you arrive at the show in costume.
Speaking of costumes, Pamela Ptak, a fashion designer who appeared on Season 7 of "Project Runway" and runs the Arts and Fashion Institute in Riegelsville, will show off her cosplay fashion designs.
And watch for strolling members of The Finest, a GI:Joe Costume Club and the Mandalorian Mercs, who portray characters of the "Star Wars" clans.
