If any of Marvel's heroes have experience with warfare, it's the Punisher and the Black Widow -- and their two series are the newest ones announced as tying into the Secret Wars summer event.
First revealed on ComicVine, the June issues of Black Widow and The Punisher -- both #19 -- will go head-long into Secret Wars and the "Last days" umbrella branding. Nathan Edmondson, who writes both series, tells ComicVine that he's approaching both arcs as the character's final days but without upsetting the internal storylines he's had in both series since they launched in 2013.
"These aren’t 'how do we suddenly fit these characters into the big wide world' issues," Edmondson said, referring to the larger Secret Wars storylines. "We remain faithful to the personal nature of the stories, while acknowledging that there is an end in sight, that a clock is ticking."
Edmondson that his Black Widow story with Phil Noto will challenge Natasha's "sense of direction and purpose," and will also "dig deep" into her past and her psyche.
On the Punisher side of things with artist Mitch Gerads, Edmondson says that despite it being the end times due to Secret Wars it's not something that'll change Frank Castle much.
"Someone who wakes up every morning expecting to die that day doesn’t think a whole lot about the end of all things," Edmondson says.
Marvel provided the advance solicitation to these June issues, which we have here:
