He was 30. An LAPD source tells Deadline that Harris’ assistant discovered his body around noon. Police said it was a possible overdose, but that is for the Coroner’s office to decide. The NBC series starring Amy Poehler is set to conclude its seventh and final season on February 24. Writer-comedian Wittels had been on Parks And Rec since Season 1, working as a writer and occasional guest star Harris Wittels horizontal answering questionsplaying Harris, the Animal Control guy, in a handful of episodes. He started as co-producer on the NBC show, rising to co-executive producer. Wittels got his break as a writer when Sarah Silverman saw him perform stand-up in 2006 and gave him a writing job on her Comedy Central series. He also worked on the network’s series Secret Girlfriend. Comedy Central sent a tweet after the news on his death broke. Wittels had a number of projects in development in TV — where he had an overall deal at Universal Television, the studio behind Parks And Rec — and in features. His producer credits also include HBO’s Eastbound & Down. He also wrote a book, Humblebrag: The Art Of False Modesty, that Grand Central published in 2012. It was based on his Twitter feed Humblebrag.
