www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/berlin-quentin-tarantino-personally-approving-771749The world, finally, is getting its Hateful Eight. Quentin Tarantino's new Western, which was the hottest title at the American Film Market in November, is currently shooting with an all-star cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Roth and Walton Goggins. At AFM, buyers flocked to The Weinstein Co., which is producing and selling Hateful Eight, hoping to get Tarantino's follow-up to Django Unchained. But no deals emerged. It came out that TWC was considering a global VOD deal with Netflix for the title, but did not go ahead with it. But, according to sources, TWC has assuaged global distributors and the company will soon sell out Hateful Eight worldwide. Final deals are taking time, buyers say, as Tarantino is demanding he personally approve the distributor for the film in every territory. As was previously reported, the director is also requiring all distributors to release the film first on 70mm, a move that will limit its initial exposure, as there are fewer theaters equipped to screen the older format. After its initial 70mm run, Hateful Eight will have a regular 35mm run. TWC said that they haven't completed any sales yet for Hateful Eight but declined further comment.
