Finance, Production Company Evolutionary Films Launches at EFM
London-based finance and production company Evolutionary Films has launched at the European Film Market in Berlin.
Leading the slate is teen comedy “Legacy,” which is produced by BAFTA winner Noel Clarke. Pic has already secured a multi-territory release with Universal Pictures across much of the world (excluding North America), with the release scheduled for April.
Slate also includes the feature-length documentary “Get Back,” which follows the Liverpool music scene from the post-war years to the present day, setting the Beatles in context. It will be released in the U.K. in May.
Representing the company at EFM are founder John Adams, formerly of Raw and Phoenix Worldwide Entertainment, and Ross Boyask, who has numerous years of experience in international sales. They will be joined by marketing director Alistair Audsley and head of production Diane Shorthouse, who will be looking for co-production opportunities.
The company’s library of completed titles also includes the quirky comedy “The Magnificent Eleven,” co-written by “Trainspotting” and “Filth” author Irvine Welsh, and starring Robert Vaughn and Sean Pertwee; and the dark, psychological thriller “The Paddy Lincoln Gang,” set in the underbelly of the Los Angeles music scene.
Evolutionary is backed by private equity and has set out to produce three films over the next two years with its focus on delivering genre titles. Among the development slate at the company are the action horror “AUX,” and the musical feature franchise “Diva,” which is set to be executive produced by former Universal Pictures managing director Johnny Fewings.
The company has already established a working relationship with an existing distributor to release its own product direct to retailers and VOD for home entertainment releases in the U.K. territory.
