variety.com/2015/film/news/berlin-studiocanal-picks-up-a-to-b-for-uk-1201427241/Studiocanal Picks Up ‘A to B’ For UK European mini-major Studiocanal has acquired UK theatrical rights from Highland Film Group to young Emirati director Ali F. Mostafa’s groundbreaking “From A to B,” the pan-Arab road movie that opened the Abu Dhabi Film Festival last year. Financed and shepherded by Abu Dhabi’s Image Nation and media and entertainment hub twofour54, with pan-Arab media company Rotana and Mostafa’s AFM Films – and Egypt’s Mohamed Hefzy and his Lebanese partner Paul Baboudjian on board as creative producers – pic is considered the pic with the most commercial potential ever spawned by the embryonic Emirati film industry to date. Sale to UK marks the pic’s first outing outside the Middle East, where it is enjoying a good theatrical run via Empire. In “A to B” three Western-educated youths from different Arab countries travel 1,500 miles from Abu Dhabi to Beirut, amid the region’s turbulence, in memory of their deceased best friend. Launched by Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier in November 2012, Los Angeles-based Highland Film Group is an independent worldwide sales, production and film financing company. It’s EFM slate also includes Bruce Willis starrer “Extraction,” “The Trust,” with Nicolas Cage and Noam Murro’s Blink, and action spoof “Tooken,” starring Donnie Wahlberg, Jenny McCarthy and Lukas Haas.
